Current Projects
September 21st – 27th
Sisters of Eta Alpha and Brothers of Eta Phi assist in running the 2009 Syracuse University Marching Band band camp, including set-up, registration, move-in, and dinner set-up/clean-up.
October 4th
Sisters and Eta Alpha alumni participate in the 2009 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in Syracuse, NY.
October 17th
Sisters of Eta Alpha and Brothers of Eta Phi travel to Central Square, NY to help Liverpool Marching Band put on their annual home show.
A Semester in Service: Spring 2009
February
- Sisters carpooled to Henninger High School on February 6th to play alongside high school students in pep band at a home basketball game.
- Sisters met on February 7th to make home-made Valentine’s Day cards for residents at Van Duyn Home and Hospital.
- Sisters hosted a reception in Crouse College for performers and audience members following the SU Wind Ensemble & Symphony Band concert on February 12th.
- Many sisters volunteered for a three-hour shift at Signature Syracuse to help sort and catalogue donated sheet music and supplies.
March
- Sisters volunteered as concert staff for the 2009 Annual Prism Concert held at Crouse College on March 24th.
- On March 25th, sisters met with visiting local high school students for lunch to discuss and encourage participation in band at the collegiate level.
- Twenty-three sisters particpated in the Syracuse University Relay for Life at the Carrier Dome from March 28th-29th.
April
- Sisters joined with brothers of Kappa Kappa Psi to volunteer at the SU Marching Band table at each of four Spring Receptions held at the Carrier Dome, providing information about the SU Band Program to interested prospective incoming students.
- Sisters attended the SU Spring Football Scrimmage to assist in 2009 Drum Major auditions, by playing their instrument in a stands band.
- On April 19th, sisters joined with brothers and sisters from Kappa Kappa Psi, Phi Mu Alpha and Sigma Alpha Iota in a joint service project to help clean up the School of Music (Crouse College).
- Sisters volunteered at Comstock KidFest at Manley Field House on April 24th.
- Sisters hosted receptions in Crouse College for performers and audience members following the Concert Band, Wind Ensemble and Symphony Band concerts on April 26th, 27th and 28th.
